Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water was by 75th birthday present from Ellie and Will. It was a little wet; but a lovely experience to play at steam engines.
The engine is identical to those in locomotives at Festiniog Railway in North Wales; but with a very simple bi-directional dual piston to drive directly to the propellor of the vessel.
I stoked the boiler, poured in water, and was the driver as well at the help for a few minutes. It was a lovely thoughtful birthday present and we all enjoyed a trip on Coniston Water into the bargain.
