This Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway runs from Lake Windermere for just a few miles and connects up with the Steamer on the Lake to transfer passengers to Ambleside and yo view the lake.
I did what every school boy / railway enthusiast would do,
- Join the signalman in the cabin to watch changing the points
- Hang out of the window to get soot and steam in the face
- Trip round the Loco shed at the main station
- Talk to the driver.
Anne Ellie and I all enjoyed the train ride in Coffee and Cream BR Coaches and pulled by a local loco.
Good trip out en route for Kendal. A bit off the beaten track really.
