My journey began in 2012 when I attended TSSF Convocation, a weekend retreat, with Anne rather than stay home by myself. I mixed with the members and joined in all the activities, had long walks and talks with various people on the beach; and at the end decided to be an inquirer (aspirant).
I wrote my life’s Christian experience for the Regional Minister; and was accepted as a Novice and allocated a counselor, Father Ted Witham TSSF, who guided me through writing a Rule by which to live. As a Novice, I was encouraged to learn about the Rule of the Third Order, the principles of which are:-
• To make our Lord known and loved everywhere,
• To promote the spirit of love and harmony,
• To live simply, and serve Christ in the example of St. Francis.
Discovering these principles has taken me into new areas of spiritual experience of Prayer, Study, and Work; involving reading books about St Francis’ life in the 13th Century and how this has impacted the life of faithful men and women in the centuries since then. An important aspect has been contact with my Novice Counselor who has steered me through the study and challenged my thinking and relationships with God, and his people.
During the Eucharist on 9th August 15, I was called to “give myself to our Lord Jesus Christ, to serve Him for the rest of my life in company with by brothers and sisters of the TSSF, seeking to live life by the principals of the order” I was then presented with a cross as shown here on a leather cord as a sign of this promise and reminder of the cross of Christ.
