A day out in Bedford was in fact a second adventure into this quite small; but historically significant town.
[Not a valid template]I went by train from Kettering to Bedford UK for the day and didn’t meet anyone that I knew. What a surprise!
Bedford is an interesting town, capital of Bedfordshire, and has as its main claim to fame the Life and Times of John Bunyan. I went to visit the Meeting House where John preached regularly. There are some recent stained glass windows that are quite amazing and reflect some of his life and parables from major book written by Him, Pilgrims Progress. Some photos are shown in the gallery.
I also went to visit the Museum of John Bunyan and received a welcome conducted tour by the lady attendant who revealed some of the hidden secrets of his life and ministry. It seems that God provided him with a 12 year prison entrance for preaching a message the the Church doctrines of the day; and gave him the opportunity to write most of his books.
Also went to the Higgins Museum. This was not nearly so interesting form me or relevant; but more to do with the history of Bedfordshire. However, I did pick up an image of a horse plough similar to the one used at Homestead Farm.
After a nice Pub Lunch returned to Kettering and spent a lively evening with all the Samways family who were there for dinner.
